Let’s Exercise Our Right
To End Breast Cancer
I don’t know what exercise means to you,
but for Jessie, Patti Karyn and me, our “most physically fit” body
part is our wrists. With our training routine of avid shopping and
repeatedly reaching for credit cards – they could rival the strength
of an Olympian’s!
But on a more serious note, we were
talking about a different type of exercise on our girlfriend phone
call last week. With October and Breast Cancer Awareness month upon
us, we felt sad thinking about our friend, Annie, who was taken from
us by breast cancer. For two years now, her husband, children and
many friends have missed her so much!

Now, more than ever, we are present to
the need to exercise our commitment to eradicate this
life-threatening disease. By using our own strengths, every one of us
can make a difference in our own way. While some fitness buffs race
for the cure, I’ll use my “athletic” wrists to write checks to my
favorite breast cancer charities.
Karyn’s out of work, and skipped movies to save for a
Brighton Bracelet Watch at
Traditions in San Antonio, Texas to
support breast cancer charities – and is bidding at their Silent
Auction to benefit
Wings – and support women who have
breast cancer and no insurance. While visiting Corona, California,
Patti’s shopping at
Nancy’s Country Hearts – she heard
that the storeowner drives a woman who has no family to all her
breast cancer treatments and surgeries. Nancy’s support gives this
woman hope. Before buying anything new, Jessie checks to see which
company donates sales from that product to breast cancer charities –
that’s why she carries
Estee Lauder’s Pink Ribbon Compact to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Standing out among the companies dedicated to this cause so close to
our hearts…there’s Brighton. For the
3rd year in a row, they’ve created a
special bracelet to support breast cancer awareness, detection and
research. This year, because “it’s time to end breast cancer,” the
beautiful piece of jewelry is both a watch and a bracelet! So far,
they’ve donated $1 million to breast cancer charities – and this
year’s goal is $1 million more.
That’s why, in our respective cities, we’ll all race in to our
Brighton Collectibles stores and
local Brighton specialty retailers
on October 1…and wear our bracelet watches proudly. The sooner we all
give, the faster we’ll reach the finish line and end breast cancer!
