I’m writing to you from cruising altitude
(30,000 ft.), and you won’t guess w hat happened. Jessie, Patti, Karyn
and I were in a down mood, envisioning having upcoming summer
vacations resembling the road trip in National Lampoon’s Vacation–
when our husbands suddenly sprang a
how-shall-I-say-it…uplifting surprise!
Instead of bumping our way to Paris, Texas – the friendly skies are
our road to an exotic girlfriend getaway…we’re on our way to Paris,
France!
Of course, we’ve had our share of
“girlfriend conspiracies” (like our Brighton “retail therapy”)…but
who’d think the guys could be so |

secretive, and plan something of this
magnitude? In our excitement, we set aside “how and why” questions.
(After all, they hadn’t bought us one-way tickets!) Besides, there
was barely enough time for an essential “Brighton stop” before
catching our planes.
