Give ’em
something (good!)
to talk about…
Guys do it. Girls do it. And whenever,
wherever, however they do it, you can depend on people to talk about
it. I’m sure you’ve guessed what I’m talking about – that’s right,
gossip. It could qualify as the #1 national pastime; in fact, last
year one celebrity tabloid alone took in over 200 million in ad
dollars. Of course, they didn’t collect it from you, or me, who “only
peek” while we’re in the grocery line!
Don’t let the men in your life fool you…

they’re no exceptions, with their
locker room, boardroom, and golf course stories. But truly,
how can any one of us be blamed for something that comes so
naturally? It’s irresistible to want to be the first to know.
I think it comes under “the pursuit of happiness” in the
constitution. Besides, if the legislature ever passed a law
against gossiping, conversations would come to a halt faster
than a carpool-driving mom at a school crossing – or nearly
as fast as Jessie, Patti, Karyn and I do when we’ve sighted a
Brighton store!
That’s why we girlfriends (who
admittedly skim the pages of gossip mags we wouldn’t

be caught buying) decided it was time to
perform an important public service. Out of our pure concern for the
common good, we visited our favorite Brighton retailers, and now
we’re proud to say we’ve actually managed to turn gossip into a good
thing. The latest buzz in our hometowns is no longer
what-star-is-sleeping-with-whom – it’s about our dazzling new
Brighton accessories that outshine the Tinseltown tales:
Karyn’s
Songbird Long Bead Necklace
has such breathtaking detailing that people in her neighborhood are
only saying nice things – mostly about her jewelry! Since Patti
started carrying the
Betsy Shoulderbag,
people around her keep spreading the word about her terrific sense of
style. Whenever I wear my new
Rusty Sandals, I can hear
women whisper that they’d love to be in my shoes…
With so many fans of our newfound “celebrity” glamour to surround us,
our privacy isn’t quite what it used to be – yet it’s wonderful to be
noticed and hear all the compliments, so if you’re “ready for your
close-up” (and want to help us stamp out “bad gossip” once and for
all) go directly to your
favorite Brighton store,
and tell them why we sent you – they’ll know just what to do! |
