to work on beauty that starts from the inside out – in our hearts –
than it is to have fabulous abs (but please, can we get those, too?)
Speaking
of giving from our hearts, Patti helped us decide just how to do it.
She said that we women give our hearts to others, yet ironically give
little thought to women’s heart health – “so wouldn’t that be
a fitting 2006 resolution for us all?”
Women’s
hearts symbolize love, purity of emotion and the center of a home.
But the female heart can become ill, and the realness of the heart as
giver of life is often ignored. (Did you know that over half a
million women – who could be our girlfriends, co-workers and
loved-ones – die of heart disease each year?)
Patti
knows the statistics well, because one is very personal – last year
she lost her own mom to heart disease. While nothing can bring her
mom back, supporting the American Heart Association’s Annual Go Red
For Women campaign (January 15-February 15) helps Patti to mend her
own broken heart and helps to save the rest of us from the number one
killer of women!
This
year, we’re joining Patti in her resolution to heal women’s
hearts, by visiting our favorite Brighton retailers to purchase
Brighton’s beautiful “Go Red” necklace …this is not only a symbol, but a piece of jewelry that will make a
difference in women’s lives. Brighton will donate $5 from the
purchase of each, with many retailers matching the $5 donation for a
total of $10 per necklace.
Talk
about having a conversation that is truly heart 2 heart –let’s
all tell our girlfriends, then put our hands over our hearts and
promise to safeguard each others’ heart health! |
