April Love

Have you ever noticed the way that laughter brings people closer? That’s why Patti, Jessie, Karyn and I make sure that laughter is the shortest distance between two people — especially in our marriages. We bet you do the same…

Which brings me to some devious schemes (too good not to share) that we’ve concocted for our husbands on April Fools Day. We’re planning to pull these mischievous practical jokes strictly out of love…and (here’s a disclaimer) we’d never, ever encourage you to “try this at home”…

Jessie’s husband bonds with his computer so much that she jokes that he’s “married to the mouse.” He’ll wake up on April 1 to a (fake) “blue screen of death” and have to hold her hand at breakfast instead. While my guy’s a “morning person” who loves to go running – at that hour, exercising my funny bone is all the cardio I can take. I’ll hide his shoes, and he’ll have to stay in bed and cuddle and snooze. Once the alarm rings, Patti’s husband turns on TV news – on April Fools, there's not the remotest chance he’ll do that ‘cause the remote will be in the laundry basket – where he’d never look!

You get the idea. By lunchtime, we’ll be back in love like newlyweds, and when we’re in love, we love to go shopping and look our best for the one we love. That means a trip to our favorite Brighton retailers.

Patti’s taking home the Flutter Butterfly Necklace – to show that she still gets ‘butterflies” when she sees her guy. Jessie will have-and-hold the Kauai Straw Handbag – to take on a romantic getaway to Hawaii. I’m buying the Vienna Hearts Keyfob, because he’ll always have the key to my heart.

You know, just like we do, that song “Only Fools Fall In Love” isn’t true…but sharing laughter and foolishness insures that we’ll stay that way!

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.”
-- E.E. Cummings
