As an "altruistic incentive" -
Brighton's Founder and President, Jerry Kohl, offered a prize to the
store who raised the most donations to charity: water - a trip of a
lifetime to Kenya, Africa, to see firsthand the life-saving effects
of our charity efforts as the first well is dug for a hospital that
has no clean water.
Jenny Spurlock, owner of J.J. Jaxx, a store selling gifts (and lots
of Brighton products) in Cookeville, Tennessee, won the challenge by
raising $13,820 toward digging freshwater wells in Kenya. Her
month-long series of events titled, "Kenya Dig It" generated
excitement in her community and raised awareness of the enormous
need for water in the developing world. Jenny's store also donated
100% of the profits from the Kazuri Bead jewelry promotion to
charity:water. |
